    - William introducing himself to the Templar leaders

William Edward Stevens (1692 - 1744) was a Spanish- British born Pirate that lived during the golden age of piracy. During this time he sailed on his famous ship The Knight Eagle and commited many acts of piracy against the british navy and other organisations in the Caribbean, he was also part of the Stevens family line.

He was also the husband of Isabella Babcock and the father of Lily Stevens.

    Biography[]

    Early Life (1692 - 1712)[]

William was born in 1692, to a spanish prostitute mother and a british naval soldier father. His mother died soon after child birth from an unknown illness, while he never met his father due to his father disappearing after the night he was concieved. William was forced to live on the streets and teach himself to survive which suprisingly was a success. He also met long time friend Reyna Hawks while on the streets.

Eventually deciding he was bored of the life he was living, at the age of 11, William stowed away on a navy ship planning to see the rest of the Caribbean. However what he didnt know was that the ship was carrying a lot of treasure and it soon came under attack of a famous pirate named Robert Lockheart and the ship was sunk.

After the battle, Lockheart's crew found William in the water and brought him aboard with the other navy crew members. However unlike the other captives who were killed, Lockheart saw potential in William and took him under his wing as an apprentice to teach him how to live as a pirate.

William then spent the next 9 years learning how to be a pirate, to sail ships and how to live a "perfect life" on the pirate headquarters of Nassau.

    Becoming A Pirate Captain (1712 - 1716)[]

At the age of 24 and after 13 years of loyal service to Robert Lockheart, Lockheart's ship the black death was attacked by a navy ship on a very stormy night and Robert was at the time drunk and couldnt do anything to lead his crew. William stepped up to the helm and used the darkness and weather to outsmart the navy crew and incapitate the ship before he lead Lockheart's crew and boarded the ship and after a long hard battle overpowered the enemy crew and took it over, taking the remaining navy crew as captives.

The next day once the storm had cleared, Robert learned of William's actions and decided that there was nothing more he could teach him, so he had his crew and the captives repair the former navy ship before handing over its control to William, who renamed his ship, The Knight Eagle and also took on the captives as his first crew members, before the two pirate captains returned to Nassau making everyone aware of the fact there was a new captain on the seas.

    Early Years Of Being A Captain (1716 - 1718)[]

Now a captain himself, William went about Nassau recruting pirates to his crew which wasnt difficult as people already knew of his exploits and after finding out how he took acting command of Lockheart's ship that night, would jump at the chance to be part of his crew. Once he had upgraded his ship to its full potential and had a full crew, William went to the seas and quickly became famous for taking down navy fleets. He was also famous for his tactic of using the darkness of night to surprise enemies before he and his crew took their ship and cargo.

Back home at Nassau, he spent his nights drinking, sleeping with many different woman and making further plans on what to steal from his enemies and over the next 2 years, William gained some collaborators in the form of his old teacher Lockheart and old friend Reyna Hawks who had eventually left her old life to become a pirate like William had as well as Oliver Archer known for his exploits of breaking into forts and stealing all the gold, Thomas Radford a crazy pirate known for his dangerous and risky personality, James Lawson known for being a murderous pirate who had ruthless methods of interrogation and his second in command Harry Graham the town's drunk. Will also had a ally and friend in local barmaid Isabella Babcock who made William aware of all the secrets she found out while she was working.

Through his collaborators, William found his crimes getting bigger and bigger, earning himself more and more rewards, however this also made him a big target for the navy causing his job as a pirate to become much harder as he was constantly hunted by pirate hunters who somehow knew sometimes when he was going to strike in his plans, however this didnt stop William from continuing his piracy acts despite warnings from his friends Lockheart, Reyna and Isabella that he should stop.

British takeover of Nassau and a traitor among his collaborators (1718)[]

In 1718 at the time of Nassau being taken over by the british, William was off the island with Oliver Archer, Harry Graham and James Lawson as the three were chasing a lead on a treasure which would apparently make them rich. However after a certain amount of searching the two suddenly found out that Nassau had been taken over and William became worried for his friends but he knew that it would be suicide to go back to Nassau at the moment so instead him and his collaboratars stayed on the island of Kingston and began to make plans of how to help their friends. While the three were making plans however, William started to see Oliver was lying on somethings and began to get suspicious so he decided to investigate his friend.

One night, William followed Oliver through the city they were in and discovered the man collaborating with what William thought at the time to just be a navy fleet captain. However during the meeting, a guard spotted William and a fight ensured giving Oliver and the "fleet captain" a chance to escape but William didnt give up and after he defeated the guards, he chased after Oliver and soon caught up to him and stabbed him through the chest with his sword. Now on his last breaths, Oliver admitted to working with them but revealed he had a change of heart and had actually been protecting William explaining why the two had been off Nassau when it was taken over.

After this William started to search around Kingston for the "fleet captain" he had seen collaborating with Oliver and soon, after chasing many leads around the city, found out that "the captain" was going to leave the Kingston soon, so William made plans of an ambush at the port where once "the captain" arrived, William and his crew captured "the captain" before taking him on their ship before anyone noticed. Here, William had James interrogate him and eventually the two found out that the man was actually working with a group called the Templars and they retrieved a letter from the templar that revealed the group had taken over Nassau for a couple of reasons, one being they wanted to capture William and an other was because the pirate rulers of the island had actually been hiding a very rich treasure, so the two and Harry soon left Kingston and made plans to sneak into Nassau.

Nassau and the fall of William's collaboratars (1719)[]

Eventually in 1719, a year after Nassau was taken over, William and James managed to sneak into Nassau leaving The Knight Eagle under Harry Graham's command while they were onshore. On Nassau they found that the island had been completely taken over by Templars and any proper pirates were forced into hiding. Soon after they arrived, the two witnissed as Lockheart was put on trial and after he gave a speech about how one day the caribbean and all pirates would be free from Templar rule, he was hanged causing William to angrily shout out and draw attention to their position where they were surrounded and captured before taken to the city fort.

Luckily though, the two had not been captured long and a couple days after their capture they were "visted" by Isabella Babcock who distracted the guards before knocking them out and unlocking William and James's cages before she lead them through the hallways heading to meet up with Thomas Radfod. However on the way they ran into guards and William ended up being split up from the other two leaving him to find his own way out of the fort. On the way, William ran into Reyna who had also been captured and was currently being kept in a cell and was ill. Worried for his friend, William used Reyna's favourite dagger to pick the cell's lock and once she was free, William tried to help her escape the fort with him. However it was too late for her and she was beginning to take her last breaths, this is when she told William to seek the Assassin's symbol to find help in defeating the Templars and gave him a set of coordinatates for him to go to before she finally passed away causing William much saddness before he carried her body outside of the fort once he found and exit and escaped before meeting up with the rest of his collaborators.

When he had gathered them all together at the local pub which was also their secret hideout on Nassau, here he told them about what Reyna had told him but they all had their doubts about the idea, however they all still wanted to leave the island so they all began to work together to make up a plan, although James wasn't actually planning on leaving the island and once they came up with one, he left to tell the Templars in hope they'd give him the treasure on the island but thankfully William caught on with what James was doing and managed to kill him before he could tell the Templars. After this the pirates decided they should leave Nassau as soon as possible and set the plan in motion. So while William and Thomas Radfod as well as Radfod's crew attacked the fort causing the fleet surrounding Nassau to be drawn to there, Isabella and some other pirates escape on rowboats to reach The Knight Eagle. The plan was working well and Isabella along with the other pirates reached The Knight Eagle, however William and Thomas had been overpowered and William barely escaped, however Thomas was not so lucky and ended up being killed.

Meeting the Assassins and imprisonment (1720 - 1724)[]

Eventually, William, Isabella, Harry and William's crew arrived at the assassin HQ on an unmarked island at the outside of the Caribbean away from any Templar prying eyes and hidden from most but the people who knew about it. Once they got there they soon were introduced to the assassin leader, Achilles Kennett who quickly settled them into the island and made William aware of who the Templars and assassins were and what the situation in the Caribbean was. However William refused to train as an assassin and didn't want to help them fight the Templars, just wanting to go back to his pirating despite Achilles warning him that if the Templars wasn't stopped that there would be no pirates. Planning to leave the island and returning to the open seas, William and his new second in command Harry prepared the crew and ship, during this time Isabella came to William and revealed that she would be staying on the island, not to become an assassin but to be safe from the Templars as they were too hunting her for being a friend of William. She also tried to convince William to stay on the island too and help fight the Templars, saying it was the best thing to do but much to her dismay he disagreed and left the island.

However his time on the seas was short lived as while planning to sink a treasure fleet, Harry and the crew turned on William revealing that while William was on Nassau the Templars had found the ship but offered them a deal, hand William over to them and they could live freely on an island of their choosing with a load of treasure. Soon enough William was put in the brig and Harry gave the nearby treasure fleet the signal that William had been captured leading the fleet to be revealed to be a Templar fleet led by the same Templar captain that William had met before. After this William was taken back to Nassau and imprisoned while Harry took over the Knight Eagle and traveled to their own hidden island.

While William was in prison many different events happened. Most pirate islands were burned and pirates that were on them killed. The assassin's island was destroyed and the fate of its inhabitants was unknown except for Isabella who had been imprisoned in the same prison as William on Nassau and the Templars had put each of their five leaders on one of the important islands all over the Caribbean to control the seas. Now it seemed like no one could over power them and all hope had been lost. People just went with their rule and except that this would be their life now....

However 4 years later on one stormy night, Achilles the assassin and some of his few survivors had been revealed to still be alive and on Nassau as they quickly came to William's aid and freed him before William worked with them to free Isabella before they let the prison and headed towards the same local bar that William and his collaborators had met and planned with each other at. Now freed from prison, William finally agreed to work with the assassins which Isabella did too so Achilles revealed their plan for retaking the Caribbean, kill each of the Templar leaders one by one....

Killing the first Templar leader and finding a new hideout (1724)[]

Soon after they came up with a plan to strike the Templar leader on Nassau who also turned out to be the same Templar leader, William had kept on meeting. First of all they got set up and Isabella disguised herself as a male sailor who had just came onto the island. Using this disguise she got herself a job at the bar where the Templar leader came every day to have a drink with his mates. While she done this to get information, William worked with the assassins to weaken the defenses around Nassau while also getting things set up to steal a man of war that was currently docked at the island, just to make sure they had an escape vessel. During this time, William and Isabella began a relationship but had to keep it very secret due to the fact Isabella was currently pretending to be a man.

Eventually Isabella had gathered enough information to help William and Achilles take down the Templar leader so that night they managed to sneak into the fort with the key that Isabella had managed to get them. This all went well and during all the sneaking about they discussed working together and they agreed where they would make their new head quarters, the island Harry and William's former crew had been given which had became famous among sailors. After they finished their discussion they reached the Templar leader's treasure room where they found him with just two guards who they quickly took down before they got a list of the other Templar leader's names and killed the leader there and then escaping the fort.

After they had finished the job, the two met with Isabella and the remaining assassins who while they were away had gathered together some sailors who wanted to help steal the man of war from the docks which resulted in William gaining another crew. Now with a crew together, William and the crew stormed the docks causing chaos while the assassins took the ship before picking up William and the crew so they could leave Nassau, heading towards their soon to be new head quarters. Once they got there they quickly killed William's former crew, regaining the Knight Eagle in the process but William had to chase Harry into the jungle where they got into a shoot out. Harry managed to some how get the upper hand but just before he shot William a black panther came out of no where and killed him, giving William time to escape and go back to his allies.

Becoming a pirate again and killing three of the Templar leaders (1724 - 1726)[]

Now with a new headquarters which turned out to be a private island like the assassins had before but with town like buildings which made it easy for William and his crew to become pirates again, quickly becoming rich as they not only sailed the seas and plundered ships but also sailors came in and traded in the business on the island which Isabella ran while the assassins themselves lived on the other side of the island so they didn't draw any attention. Using all these things, they quickly went into the business of piracy again and also used this to make the Templar leaders nervous and make mistakes.

After a year of all this, William again worked with the assassins to take the Templar leaders down one by one which was easy as they knew what islands they were on and what their names were. How it worked was Achilles would come up with a plan to take the leader down and William would see it through which proved no hard task. However after they had killed the fourth out of five leaders the fifth one changed islands and went into hiding making it so they couldn't take him down as quickly as the others.

Because of this there island was soon attacked but luckily William managed to use the Man O' War they had taken before to defend the island against a Templar fleet although the assassin's head quarters winded up destroyed and the only assassin survivor was Achilles himself much to the man's sadness. Soon after this attack Achilles said his goodbyes to William and Isabella and left for London in 1726, leaving them to take down the last Templar leader and retake the Caribbean. It was also during this time that Isabella revealed to William that she was pregnant with his child and they soon happily married, promising to make the Caribbean a better place before their baby was born.

Retaking the Caribbean and killing the final Templar leader (1726)[]

A couple of months later where Isabella was beginning to show, William was getting desperate to end the Templar's rule on the Caribbean but fortunately just as the couple was giving up hope they heard news in their local bar that the Templar leader was using a high security fleet to escape the Caribbean. Despite Isabella's protests, William quickly left with his crew on his ship The Knight Eagle to attack the fleet although they all knew how unlikely it was they would return.

However as fate seemed to decide it, the night that William and his crew planned to ambush the fleet turned into a stormy one which gave William the idea to attack the ship like he used to do. Using the darkness of night and the storms to his advantage. Launching their attack, William and the crew quickly took down the smaller ships which made up most of the fleet and left three big ships. However The Knight Eagle soon fell into a trap where it was nearly torn apart by the three ships, luckily though Isabella and her own crew came to their rescue on the Man O' War and managed to destroy two of the ships and incapitating the ship with the Templar leader on it.

Now working together, the two crews boarded the much larger ship and began a heated battle which seemed to go on for hours. Eventually this battle ended when William began a duel with the final Templar leader and managed to cut off his head before using said head to make the enemy crew to surrender so he and Isabella's crews could kill them, not taking any prisoners. Now that they had won the battle against the Templars, the couple and their crews went to each island which still had Templar rule over it and showed off the head, which eventually got the result of the Templars leaving the Caribbean, leaving the seas once again under the control of the pirates.

    Later life and death (1726 - 1744)[]

Now at the age of 34, William and his wife Isabella settled down onto their island and left the Caribbean to be ruled by freedom. However a year later Isabella died when giving birth to their daughter who turned out to be a very healthy baby girl. Now depressed William began drinking heavily and began experiencing visions of his old friends like Reyna and Lockheart as well as his late wife Isabella. Because of this he snapped out of it and looked after his daughter who he named Lily.

From 1727 the year Lily was born to 1743, William trained Lily to be a pirate and live her life which gave her much success as she took over the family business on the island at the young age of 16 while she also had many suitors but she turned them all down, not interested in a relationship despite her father encouraging her to date someone. Eventually however in 1744 a enemy raid happened on their island and destroyed all the business and killed everyone there except for William and Lily as they managed to hide from their enemies in the old assassin's head quarters.

However while here, Lily realized that William had been badly wounded and shortly after he died of his wounds during a dark, stormy night leaving Lily alone on the island as their enemies left the island while she swore to avenge his death....

    Personality[]

William was a mysterious person who only the best of his friends would know his secrets. However despite the fact that he was mysterious he was a very charming, brave and loyal person who people found fun to be around as he had a very care free attitude to everything. He was also a ladies man who surprisingly had a gentlemanly attitude.

William was also a very reckless person who never surrendered despite the odds and quickly became famous because of this. He enjoyed his fame and used it to his advantage, either to make enemies "shake in their boots" or to flirt with the ladies. He was also very respected for his actions and crimes often being considered one of the best pirates out there.

He also had a code and rules that he would always follow and expected his crew to honor them, some of these included never raping woman or harming innocents, only ever steal from the british navy or privateers and to never fight fellow pirates unless if they start the fight first.

However he had a couple of problems with his personality, namely he was easily persuaded by money and would do any job as long as it was great pay unless if it included going against his fellow pirates and he also had a drinking as well as an anger problem which often got him into bar fights and other kinds of trouble. He also has problems giving up any power he had got his hands on.

    Appearance[]

William was a tall, handsome man who had medium length black hair and stormy blue eyes which the woman often found captivating. He also often wore the clothes seen wearing in the picture at the top of the page. Being spanish he had slightly darker skin and he had a wierd but apparently strong accent because he was born to british and spanish parents. He was also very muscly and was considered bigger than most men on Nassau.

    Abilities[]

William was very skilled in pretty much everything he was known for, being an excellent sailor as well as a weapon's expert being able to wield all types of weapons. He is also very strong being able to lift heavy objects or do all the normal things a ship crew would need to do, even in the worst of weather and is also very quick, able to easily escape enemy guards and other things. William is also a clever person and is able to see more things than the usual person could not, even without the power of eagle vision. It also takes a lot to truly hurt him as he can withstand a lot of pain, however he does have his limit but it often isnt reached.

    Equipment[]

In his cabin ship, William had a full armory of all kinds of weapons ranging from daggers to heavy weapons. However he mainly only used 4 of his pistols and his favourite sword (shown in the first picture on this page). He also liked to use a crossbow which was again one of his main weapons, however he only used it while he was meant to be sneaking around a off limits area, preffering to use his sword and pistols when in combat.

Another one of William's most used weapons was his famous ship, The Knight Eagle which was a Brig which was around 60 meters long, 49 meters high and had a width of 11.9 meters along with 26 sails. The Eagle also had 54 broadside cannons, 6 chaser cannons and two swivel guns. The ship also carried a lot of fire barrels and other types of objects like this to use against enemy ships.

The Knight Eagle also had one of the strongest hulls in the Caribbean which made it hard for even Man O' War ships to sink it. It also carried harpooning equipment and 6 rowboats which William and the crew often used to hunt sea animals.

The ship also had white sails with a pirate logo on it, a mermaid figurehead and the wheel was the same one which would later become the wheel on the Aquila aka the ship of Ratonhnhaké:ton (or Connor from Assassins Creed 3).

William also had a Man o' War at his disposable but never used this due to it not being his preferred ship, he did however use this in case his island that he lived on needed defending.

    Relationships[]

    Reyna Hawks[]

The two met on the streets and as time went by became longterm friends and they often had a brother and sister relationship and looked out for eachother. They were very friendly to eachother and would always come to help the other if they asked for it. Reyna was also one of the few people that William opened up to and she happily kept his secrets, knowing that she was trusted by him. Later on in life when the two were both pirates, Reyna served as one of William's trusted collaborators. However when William returned to Nassau after it was taken over, it was revealed that Reyna had been captured and was currently laying ill in a cell. She shortly passed away after William found her and she told him to seek the Assassins for help in defeating the Templars. Her death caused him much saddness and to never be the same again.

    Robert Lockheart[]

The two first met when Lockheart's crew brought him onboard as a captive after they sunk the navy ship he was on. However instead of killing William like Lockheart done to the other captives, he took William in and brought him up from a young age to be a pirate until William reached the age of 24 and became a pirate captain himself. Many would consider the pair like father and son but both of them denied that and just stuck with being labled as friends. The two often comited acts of piracy together and were allies against their enemies. Lockheart was also one of William's trusted collaborators. However after William arrived back at Nassau, it was revealed that Lockheart had been captured by Templars and after the man gave a speech, he was hanged much to the saddness of William which resulted in their capture, luckily though they were soon freed and William promised to avenge Lockheart's death.

    Isabella Babcock[]

During William's early years as a pirate captain, he met Isabella who currently worked as a barmaid on Nassau, the place where William spent when not on the seas. The two soon grew into friends and Isabella would tell William all what had happened while he was away as well as any rumors or secrets that were passed around the bar that she worked in. However not being a pirate herself, Isabella wouldnt actually take part in any plans he made. Years after they had met on Nassau they were best friends and the only surviving members of the collaborators. They trusted each other and wouldn't leave each others side never mind what showing that out of all William's collaborators, in the end Isabella was the one he could trust the most. Shortly after they had become the only surviving collaborators, the two of them began a relationship which at first was secret due to Isabella having to pretend to be a man but eventually after they found another headquarters they openly began dating. In later years the two got married and Isabella winded up pregnant with their daughter Lily, however she winded up dying in childbirth causing William much sadness.

    Oliver Archer[]

During William's early years as a pirate captain, he met Oliver at an unknown time and the two soon became collaborators using eachother's skills to comit many acts together. These would include things like William's crew attacking a fort while Oliver snuck in to steal the treasure before the two met back on Nassau and other plans. The two also considered eachother allies and friends during their years as collaborators. However after the take over of Nassau it was revealed that Oliver was collaborating with William's enemies and angry at the man, William ended Oliver's life, although before he died Oliver revealed he had a change of heart and instead was trying to protect Will.

    Thomas Radford[]

During William's early years as a pirate captain, he met Thomas at an unknown time at at some point Thomas became one of William's collaborators, the two often comiting piracy crimes against fleets and towns alike. However William was very wary of Thomas's crazy and dangerous personality believing it to be a risk to whoever would hang around with Thomas but William still saw the man as a friend and ally. However when the pirates were escaping Nassua, Thomas winded up dead due to him and William being overpowered and it was due to Thomas's sacrifise that William escaped.

    James Lawson[]

During William's early years as a pirate captain, he met James at an unknown time and at some point James became one of William's collaborators despite William not agreeing with James's methods of doing things. However when it comes down to things like interrogation, William does turn to James for help since he is the best out of all of his collaborators at interrogation. However it is shown they were never true friends despite the two helping eachother often and in the end James died by William's hands after James tried to betray him and the other pirates.

    Harry Graham[]

When William met Harry through his collaborator James, he didnt think much of him due to Harry being the town drunk and the only times, William really saw Harry was when the man was around the bar drunk. Despite this, William would consider Harry an ally and often used him in his plans, usually as a distraction. Apparently however, William apparently trusted Harry enough to have him look after his ship while he was away. However after they managed to get off Nassau, Harry and William's crew betrayed William for money and handed him to the Templars breaking whatever friendship they had. In the end, Harry winded up being killed when William took his revenge showing that they both wanted each other dead and luckily William winded up surviving and Harry was the one to die.

    Achilles Kennett[]

The two were not much of friends but more of allies. William met Achilles when he was told by Reyna to find the assassins and as Achilles was the assassins leader they quickly became allies, although at first William didn't want to work with him. Although this changed when William was freed from prison by Achilles and they soon began working together to rid the Caribbean of the Templars showing they trusted each other to some extent. They also lived together on the same island which showed when it came down to it they were friends and would work together which they did to stop the Templars in the Caribbean once and for all. Later on, all of the assassins under Achilles's leadership winded up dead causing Achilles to be sad and leave the Caribbean and head for London leaving William and Isabella behind despite their friendship together.

    Lily Stevens[]

When Lily was born and Isabella died during childbirth, William at first turned his back on the child and left her in the care of his maids. However later when William managed to get over his drinking problem he took over the care for her and trained her up to not only be a pirate but to live a normal life so she could choose what she wanted to be. However when she was 16, a enemy raid happened on their island killing everyone including William himself which resulted in Lily being devastated and alone on the island, swearing to avenge William's death.

    Trivia[]
