"I'm pretty certain I'm the only Irish-pirate-Assassin-smuggler-fuckface in this half of the world, though there's probably one or two over in Australia or some other shithole."

Patrick Monaghan (1691-)  was an Irish Assassin and pirate captain during the Golden Age of Piracy. Once a crewman on the Jackdaw, Patrick was given his own ship to captain (a brig-frigate hybrid) alongside his best friend, Robert Krick. Renaming the ship the 'Nightingale', Patrick painted the entirety of the ship black and became known as a 'night attacker', engaging ships in the darkest points of night with the goal of intimidating the British and Spanish and making the Assassins seem more dangerous than they really were.

Early life[]

Born in Cork to a barmaid and a shopkeeper, Patrick's mother died from his birth. Left alone with his father, the pair moved to Dublin when Patrick was nine, and he soon started to learn more and more about ships, the navy and privateers. After his father's death in a barfight, Patrick became a privateer, and joined a crew heading to the New World.

Piracy and Captain Kenway[]

Making it to the Carribean without trouble, Patrick started serving with a different crew on a schooner named Queen Wasp. When Edward Kenway came to the Carribean and started to create the Republic of Nassau, Patrick joined Edward's crew, being 21 at the time. Meeting an alcoholic on the ship named Robert Krick, Patrick befriended the Englishman, the two serving at first as Edward's swivel gunners.

For many years, the pair served with Captain Kenway, going through the many encounters the Jackdaw went through. A few years before Kenway's departure from piracy, the Jackdaw attacked a brig-frigate commanded by a rival faction of privateers. After the ship was boarded, Kenway handed the ship to Edward, who made Krick his first mate and quartermaster.

After repairing the ship to strength once more, Patrick and Krick got a crew together, and modified the ship heavily. Painting the entirety of the ship jet black (including the weapons, sails and even the wheel), they replaced the British flag with the Assassin flag and christened the ship anew: the Nightingale. It's goal would be to trade and earn money for the Assassin order during the day, and attack the enemies of the Assassins in the night, using stealth and intimidation.
